We don't have an ice maker in the fridge. We bought a countertop ice maker & fill up all 4 bags.Updated July 2022. I have had these bags for a couple of years now, and even ordered again so I could use them for more items and to give them to friends. They have never let me down. These arrived undamaged and with barely any odor. Within one day the faint PEVA odor was gone. The zipper is water-tight and air-tight. The zipper is easy enough to open and close even when the bag is stiff from being in my freezer where I mostly use them. The key is to gently use your fingers to push the zipper apart near the middle, rather than yanking apart the top edges as one can with a thin zipper bag. Before sealing these bags I can squeeze out a fair amount of air, although not as much as I can from a thin zipper bag (because due to their thickness these bags do not conform as well to the contents).I use these primarily to store frozen single-serving portions of cooked meat in the freezer. (I cook a large batch of meat, cool it, portion it, freeze on a sheet pan, and then pop off and put in the bags in the freezer.) I also store uncooked portions of seafood. This means that I open each bag once or twice a week.I've washed these bags several times with great success. I use a soft bristle bottle brush to gently scrub the inside of the bag while it's submerged in warm sudsy water (not hot). There's no need to turn inside out which is likely to damage the seams. After washing a bag that I've used to store a lot of a very strong smelling item (elderberries, garlic) *for a long time* a bit of the smell remains. This is not a surprise. And I don't find it a problem because in those rare cases I just reuse the same bag for the same type of item.i bought them to make burgrers and meatballsI bought these for travelling and it's perfect for toiletries and charging cables.Okay. So first off, my motivation to buy these was not to replace all disposable baggies but to significantly reduce the use of them for things like homemade bread or raw veggies like carrots and celery, etc. Basically the easy to clean after and the less messy foods that I would store in a bag. Having said that I do not plan to use it on complicated or messy foods, I had high hopes to get at least 6 mos or year of frequent gentle use from these to at least cover my money's worth and time's worth. Two of the bags have been used about 4 or 5 times and appear okay, but one of the bags split at multiple seams after the 3rd use. Because I had only used that bag for sliced bread, it has never been machine washed or microwaved or abused in any way. I have only hand washed it with warm soapy water and wiped it dry with a towel before laying it open and upside down in drying rack to completely dry. That is a lot of gentle care. So I was rather disappointed by the stiff/brittleness of this material to basically split at seams under such light use and such a short time. I love the "theory" behind this product but in actuality I wont be buying again bc of the lack of durability. Since I am reviewing the product I may as well note that yes it is a large bag, but the opening is much tighter than the base of the bag. So we never filled the bag to capacity and we took extra time being careful when reaching in the opening to clean out the big interior at the base. Anyhow I'm kinda wondering how much I'd like the shape of the bag long term even if it had been more durable.I've had these for over a year now and I use them mainly for (travel trailer) camping. (1) I use two of them as ice bags in my cooler as we leave home; upon arrival at our first site the cooler is unpacked, and these bags go in the freezer where they serve as ice bags as I make more ice along the trip; typically, it is a few hours between packing at home and unpacking at the first site, so the ice melts a little. The bags have easily withstood the process of breaking apart the refrozen cubes; (2) in the food packing process, I place all my vegetables in the remaining two bags so when I pack the cooler in the morning I am able to grab the two bags versus multiple individual items. Highly recommend. I also purchased the pack of smaller sizes and very happy with those as well. Most easily washed with a good size bottle brush. They don't dry out that well on their own, but a towel quickly does the job.First time trying these reusable storage bags. I have bought silicone bags in the past, which I really like and use them primarily in the freezer. These are less expensive than the silicone, I plan to use these primarily in the frige & pantry. They appear to be sturdy & durable. I like the ziplock closures, which is easier to close than my silicone bags (not really complaining about the silicone closure clasp, but these are just easier to close). I have only been using them for a couple of months (I bought similar bags about a month ago) and only time will tell how long these will last. I will keep you updated. I can see, somewhat (they are cloudy), what is in the bags, but I label them anyway. I think they are a good alternative to plastic bags storage bags and hopefully will be a tiny step towards reducing my carbon foot print and my trash.El tamaño es grande, cabe mucho alimento lo único es que el material es delgado, espero duren
