I freeze 160 ml in one bag (2 full medela tubes). I freeze the bags flat by sandwiching them between small cutting boards in the freezer, then laying them flat to freeze so they are extra flat, then transferring to the milk storage organizer once solid.I use the white base AND the clear lids to store milk upright. Since the frozen milk is pretty...solid, I can stack the base on top of the full lid. 2 storage containers for the price of one!For me, with 160ml in the bags, I can fit the Lasinoh bags only in the lid, which is a teensy weensy bit wider than the base. I can fit 20-22 Lasinoh bags in the lid. The Lasinoh bags in the base have to go in slightly diagonally, which is a waste of space. The Nuk/Gerber bags freeze a bit narrower, but not as flat as the Lasinoh bags. I can fit these in the white base without going diagonally, but I can only fit 17-20 in the base.I also tried one of those 6 qt shoe boxes from the dollar store (or Home Depot, or whereever). These are ok, but I have to put the bags in perpendicular to the long direction of the box. Both types of bags fit 3 across, and about 5-7 bags deep. (Think: shoe box goes in sideways, long side facing the front of the freezer, with the milk bags facing the front of the freezer as well.) The milk tends to fall over as I pull it out. But it's a cheap alternative if you go that route.I also tried the Mainstays Ice Cube tray (tub) from walmart, but even the narrower Nuk / Gerber bags had to go in diagonally. Also, the container flares up, so you waste a lot of space.I definitely prefer this container to either the shoe box or the Mainstays tray. My only caveat is that you should check the depth of your freezer (and if there is a curved lip in the back, you should exclude that from your measurement) because we have a smallish fridge (smallish apartment) and I had to put velcro on the door of the freezer to keep it closed because the First Years milk storage organizer is like 0.25" too long -- so the freezer door is always popping open otherwise.
